NewsBasis: I Want to Make This Work

I recently blogged about one of my favorite free PR tools for SEO. I’m always on the hunt for services and technologies like this that can help us do our job more effectively and give our clients that extra edge over their competitors when it comes to media coverage. There are a ton out there, and it’s unusual to find a real gem.

One tool that I want to really like is NewsBasis, which aims to let media and PR pros interact more effectively via the company’s online platform. Journalist requests and company profiles/expertise are analyzed and matched to each other. The goal is to secure great results with less effort and to minimize flooded email boxes for reporters. While I love the idea and have been testing it out for a few months, I have yet to secure a solid result or, for that matter, even get an interesting nibble. It is in beta, so I’m going to keep testing it out. Anyone else out there have thoughts on NewsBasis?

    Thanks for your post. I would say we are still in the ramp up period as we add customers and refine the product, but there have certainly been hundreds of interactions between users on both sides of the table. Obviously I’d like to get that into the “hundreds of thousands” sooner rather than later.

    Part of what we’ve been focused on is building out another dimension of the product to significantly extend its utility beyond “requests and response” for both PR folks, companies and journalists/content publishers. We are just putting the finishing touches on that and expect to launch it any day now.
