High-growth agency expands services, opens NYC office, grows Denver presence, and moves into new Austin HQ
AUSTIN, TEXAS – September 26, 2017 – INK Public Relations today rebrands as INK Communications Co. to reflect its expanded strategy and service offering of public relations, digital strategy, social media, content, creative, and research. Using all of these capabilities, INK creates integrated communications programs to ensure client partners like the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), Whole Foods Market 365, and Experian Partner Solutions deliver their best selves to the right people at the right time.
“Our new brand as INK Communications Co. is more than a switch from the words public relations to communications,” said Kari Hernandez, INK president and co-founder. “Regardless of how we have defined PR, the term has come to equal media relations in the business mainstream; yet we know client success depends on much more. Companies need a partner who will find the right mix of earned, owned, paid, and shared media, and apply a deep understanding of audience motivations to create campaigns that break through the noise. We call this ‘the good stuff.’ This type of work requires expertise across many marketing and creative disciplines. The broad, and more accurate, moniker of communications allows us to offer this mix to our client partners in new and innovative ways.”
INK grew 135% since the start of 2014, and was recently named to the Inc. 5000 list of the nation’s fastest growing private companies and Austin Inno’s 50 on Fire. The company quadrupled its staff in that same time, growing its Austin headquarters, establishing a presence in Denver (INK West), and opening an office in New York City (INK East). INK expanded its focus from technology and clean energy to also work with innovative client partners in consumer markets, specifically food and craft beverages, and corporate markets, including financial services and non-profit.

Under Baker’s leadership, INK’s Denver office, which focuses on both Colorado and the western US, has grown to eight communications professionals and brought on client partners such as ad tech leaders Choozle and VigLink. INK West will continue its growth in Colorado, aligning the agency’s deep expertise in technology, clean energy, and craft beer with the region’s top growth sectors.
Candice Eng has relocated to lead INK’s new east coast office out of WeWork Irving Place in Manhattan. Named PRSourceCode’s Top Tech PR Pro in 2013 and PR News’ Agency Account Manager of the Year in 2015, Eng has been described by the latter as an “all-around PR badass.” She will apply her persistence to grow INK East in service of existing and new INK clients on the east coast, as well as provide “feet on the street” media relations support to INK clients across the country.
This week, INK Communications Co. opens its newly designed headquarters at 2717 South Lamar off Manchaca Road in Austin. Designed by architect Josh Mackley and constructed by Roost Custom Homes, INK’s new 4,000 square foot industrial-style office space features a variety of work environments to match its culture and creative workflows. The new office is also a celebration of Austin art, featuring work by contemporary artist Jason Archer, muralists Mike “Truth” Johnston, Lucas Aoki and Jason Eatherly, and textile artist Magda Sayeg.
