Your Company and the Future of Mobility
This post comes from INK graphic design intern Ryan Riggins.
It is fairly typical for technology news to grace the headlines. However, mobile technology has been a very hot topic recently flooding the front pages, filling RSS readers, and saturating Twitter feeds much more than normal. From Microsoft’s purchase of Nokia, to Apple’s record sales of the new iPhone, mobile technology companies are continuing to put the pedal to the metal to produce the latest and greatest consumer products. If you’re having trouble keeping up with these rapid-fire headlines, here is an infographic we found on NerdGraph that can help. I have highlighted a few of the significant stats and asked questions that will help put the future of mobility into perspective for you and your company.
- In 2012, there were 5 billion mobile phones in the world. 1.8 billion of those were smartphones. Does your company have some sort of mobile presence to engage consumers? This could be something as basic as a mobile site or as complex as an interactive application to accompany your products or services.
- Facebook now reaches 76% of the smartphone market and accounts for 23% of time spent using apps each month. Does your company utilize social media platforms like Facebook to engage consumers?
- 1 in 5 people checks their phone every 10 minutes. If your company is using social media, what kind of information and how frequently are you sharing that information with consumers?
- Mobile Commerce is expected to reach$37.44 billion in 2013. Does your company have the capabilities to incorporate mobile commerce and would it benefit your bottom line?
